HIGHLIGHT VENTURES OUT
Camp Highlight is proud to announce a new adventure for children of LGBTQ families!
We are teaming up with the Venture Out Project for a 3-day Memorial Weekend hike! The Venture Out Project, run for queer people by queer people, fosters community and nature skills by leading hikes and camping trips in the great outdoors.
During Highlight Ventures Out, certified wilderness instructors from Venture Out, Highlight staff, and a small group of Highlighters will embark on a camping trip in beautiful southern Vermont. The group will receive an education in not just outdoor skills, but also cooperation, responsibility and the other Virtues central to every Highlight experience. Hikers will cook their own food, set up their own tents, and learn about themselves and each other along the way.
The Details
This experience is open to of Highlighters ages 13 to 18. The hike begins the evening of Friday, May 24 in the evening and ends on Monday, May 27. For convenience, there is complimentary transportation from the Greater New York City area to the Vermont. No camping equipment? No problem! The majority of the gear, including tents, cooking stoves, sleeping bag and pads, as well as backpacks are provided!
